For anyone with home based internet marketing businesses one of the ways to boost your traffic and revenues is to have an affiliate program. They really aren’t that difficult…in fact there are 3 key steps to having a successful affiliate program.

First step

Figure out what system you are going to use for your affiliate program.

There are a lot of different affiliate systems out there to use. None of them are perfect. The best one for you really depends on what kind of business you are running.

Are you selling digital products? Are your products physical? How much does your product sell for?

Various systems will allow for different product types and price points so you just need to do a little research here based on your industry and your products and find the one that fits you best at this time. Look, you aren’t marrying a system here! You can always change later as your needs change.

For example if you are new and want to sell digital products than ClickBank might be the best place to start…but later on maybe you will want to sell higher priced products than ClickBank will allow. No problem, for those products later you pick a different system. And you can typically offer your product in multiple places. So for now, pick one that fits and get going!

Second step

Start getting your affiliates.

That is kind of the key to the whole thing, right? Without affiliates you can’t get them to sell anything…so you have to get affiliates.

You may already know some people who would be great affiliates for you…people who want to promote your products or services. You will also want to expand beyond that base.

There are software programs out there that will help you to find others…but some of the best ways is to connect with people. You can meet people at live events or connect on social networking sites. You can also research people online…check out websites, blogs and forums…find people in your niche who might be a good fit. Then get in touch with them and tell them about your product and that you have an affiliate program that you think might work really well for them.

Third step

Integrate your affiliate program into your products of services.

Make it easy for people to promote you! Think about it this way…if you go online and buy stuff and tell people about it and they then buy it, wouldn’t it be great to get an easy commission from your recommendation? Not that you would tell your friends to buy something just because you make a few bucks…but if you really like something enough to tell your friends and family to buy it and you can make some money from it too, that’s a bonus, right?

Well, make it easy for your customers to know that they can do just that!

That third step really helps feed your second step…by making it easy for a person to become an affiliate you will get more affiliates.

Give them some tools…let them know right off the bat that they are and affiliate and here is how you can promote this product.

By following these three simple steps, you can have your own affiliate program for your home based internet marketing businesses. Get your program, get some affiliates and make it easy for them! That’s it. Now you are all set to grow your business and profits!
