Although there is some variation in how super affiliates conduct their business online, there are some commonalities as well.

The following are my 3 top affiliate marketing tips I would give to people just starting off today if they want to maximize their chances of making good money at this business model.

OK, let’s get right into it.

1. Pick a lucrative niche. If you want to build a business, you have to pick a market that has real money making potential. I know a lot of people will tell you to go with what you’re passionate about, but if your interest is making money first and foremost, save what you’re passionate about to non-business activities

Now, there is a chance that what you’re passionate about is also in a big money making market. If they align, you are in luck. But if your passion is trying new recipes to cook, well, recipes are a tough business to make money on because you can get them for free all over the web. This is just one example of a dud business niche I would avoid online as an affiliate because there’s just not any money in it.

2. Be prepared to build a web site. Look, if you don’t know how to build a site, the technical hurdles can seem daunting. They need not be so. There are push button site builders out there that you can learn. You can also hire some tech savvy kid for pretty cheap, whether local or online at popular sites like elance.com

You must have a web site. Otherwise you will make little to no money promoting the affiliate link given to you directly by the company. This is simply because the visitor doesn’t want to be sold to right away.

A web site allows you to give useful information first before they are directed to the merchant’s site.

3. Figure out one targeted traffic generation method and stick to that one until you master it. One big mistake I see newbies make is, in the midst of all their excitement, they try to master SEO, PPC, article marketing, and other methods all at once. Don’t even try it. Stick to one and only one. After you master it, then think about branching out. But you may never need to. You can make a fortune off of one method online and many people do.

There you have it. Of course, these affiliate marketing tips are just the tip of the iceberg. But do not violate any of them. If you do, I virtually guarantee your chances of success will drop severely.
